Penang Pakatan’s decision to stay with BN had component parties’ consensus, says Chow Kon Yeow

Butterworth, August 15 — The decision by Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) to continue its cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) was reached through consensus among the component parties, including DAP, PKR, and Amanah, according to Chow Kon Yeow, state PH chairman. As reported by Berita Harian, Chow stated that the positions of DAP, PKR, and Amanah had been presented to the state PH Leadership Council, which then endorsed the continued partnership.

The PH Leadership Council, chaired by Chow, reached a unanimous decision based on the respective positions of each party. Chow was commenting on this decision after an event at the Seberang Jaya Public Market, responding to DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng's suggestion for further deliberation among Penang DAP delegates regarding the state PH leadership's support for Umno's role in the state government.

While Chow could not comment on whether DAP had held an internal meeting on the matter, as he is not a member of its state committee, he noted that Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim had conveyed the party's position to PH. Chow added that Sim, Penang Amanah chairman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil, and PKR Leadership Council chairman Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid had all expressed the same position, leading to PH's decision to maintain the cooperation.
