#OsunDecides2026: I want to vote, 55-year-old resident cries out after BVAS facial recognition failure

A 55-year-old Osun State resident, Sharafa Lasisi, urgently requested election authorities to resolve the issue of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) failing to recognize his face, preventing him from casting his vote. Lasisi made this appeal while attempting to vote at Polling Unit 006, Ward 04, in Isale/Oke-Afo area of Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area on Saturday.

Despite multiple attempts, the BVAS machine consistently denied facial recognition, leading Lasisi to believe the network issues were the cause. Election officials suggested he return later, which he did, but the problem persisted. Lasisi, a candidate in the Osun State governorship election, expressed frustration, stating, "My name is Sharafa Lasisi.

I am from Alamisi Unit 6. I am 55 years old. I have been to where they are supposed to verify my face but they said the network isn’t letting the verification go through." Urging for intervention, Lasisi emphasized the importance of exercising his right to vote, fearing disenfranchisement.
