#OsunDecides2026: Ex-minister decries slow BVAS performance

Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, a former Minister of State for Police Affairs, recently criticized the slow performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission's Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) at his polling unit in Osun State. Adesiyan, who cast his vote at Unit 8, Ward 6, Lagere Idiose, Ode Omu, expressed his concerns about the lengthy process faced by the voters due to the slow functioning of the BVAS machine.

In his statement, Adesiyan said, "The exercise is peaceful here. There have not been any problems, only that the BVAS is very slow."

Adesiyan highlighted that there are nearly 1,000 registered voters at this location, with a significant number of them already queuing to cast their ballots. Despite it being past 2pm, only around 200 voters have managed to cast their votes so far. He also mentioned that some elderly voters were facing difficulties as the BVAS machine was not registering their votes.

Adesiyan stated that his polling unit should be provided with another BVAS machine to expedite the voting process. However, he assured that every registered voter in the queue would be granted the opportunity to vote.
