Man critical after three-vehicle crash in Co Meath

A man is currently in critical condition at a hospital following a three-vehicle crash in County Meath. Gardaí are seeking witnesses to the incident that occurred on the R132 near Smithstown and Julianstown in the early hours of Saturday morning. The first collision took place around 2:06am when two southbound vehicles collided.

The driver of the first vehicle, a man in his 50s, was unharmed. Following the first collision, both vehicles veered to the left side of the road. Approximately ten minutes later, a third vehicle crashed into the rear of the second vehicle. The 50-year-old driver of the second vehicle was standing at the back of his car at the time of the crash and suffered serious injuries.

He is currently being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. The third vehicle's driver, a 40-year-old man, was uninjured. Forensic investigators have secured the scene and local diversions are in place. Authorities are encouraging anyone who was traveling on the R132 in the Smithstown and Julianstown area between 1:20am and 2:20am to come forward with any information.
