LCCI advocates for economic prowess, strong defence

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President, Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol, emphasized the importance of economic self-reliance and robust defence for preserving Pakistan’s sovereignty during the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony. In his address, he encouraged the government to stimulate industrial production, exports, and investment.

Speaking at the event held to mark Pakistan's Independence Day, he highlighted the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement as a significant and historic development in cooperation between Pakistan and other Muslim countries. Faheem stated that the agreement would bolster mutual trust, defense cooperation, and collective security. He added that strong defense capabilities, along with effective collaboration with brotherly countries, could contribute to regional peace and stability.

He further argued that economic self-reliance, increased industrial production, and higher exports and investments were crucial for Pakistan to attain full independence and sovereignty. The LCCI President urged the government to improve the business environment, lower the cost of doing business, and maintain consistent policies to enable the private sector to contribute more significantly to economic growth.

LCCI Vice Presidents Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh and Khurram Lodhi joined in congratulating the nation and urged Pakistanis to prioritize the nation's welfare above political affiliations. The ceremony, attended by notable figures including Senator Shaheen Khalid Butt, Mian Anjum Nisar, Muhammad Ali Mian, Engineer Khalid Usman, Nasrullah Mughal, and LCCI Executive Committee members, witnessed the hoisting of the national flag by Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol and Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh.
