Adeleke claims arrest of Osun PDP chairman, demands immediate release

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has denounced the alleged arrest of his party's chairman, Sunday Bisi, demanding his immediate release. In a statement via his official X account on Saturday, Adeleke alleged Bisi was apprehended at his residence in Ilesa following his voting in the ongoing Osun governorship election. The governor's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, signed the statement.

Adeleke labeled the arrest as an abuse of law enforcement and an assault on the democratic process. He claimed that Bisi was unexpectedly taken from his home without explanation, sparking suspicion that it was a coordinated effort by the opposition APC and compromised security agents to hinder the monitoring of election results. The governor did not present any evidence to support this claim.

Adeleke further asserted that the arrest was part of a larger effort to obstruct the collation of election results, though he did not offer substantiation for this assertion. He threatened legal action against those responsible, calling for the immediate release of Bisi and other "political prisoners" in the state. At the time of the statement, the whereabouts of Bisi remained unknown, and no security personnel had come forward to claim responsibility for the alleged arrest.
