Lebanon says 11 killed in Israeli airstrikes

Lebanon has reported 11 deaths in recent Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, the deadliest since a truce with Hezbollah nearly two months ago. The attacks, which began on Saturday, were condemned by Hezbollah, the Iran-backed group, which demanded an end to the peace negotiations with Israel. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed that one strike killed seven people, including three children and two women, in the village of Ansar.

The Israeli military confirmed targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in retaliation for an attack by the militia on Israeli forces. Hezbollah vowed to respond appropriately and criticized Lebanese authorities for continuing the humiliating negotiations with Israel. The conflict, which began in early March around the Iran war, has resulted in over 4,300 deaths.

Israel maintains the security zone in southern Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah attacks on northern Israel, but Hezbollah has refused to disarm.
