Trust between Anwar, Zahid at all-time low, says KJ

Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin has stated that trust between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has hit its lowest point since the unity government's formation in 2022. In a recent episode of his podcast, Khairy accused Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) of creating a "massive rupture" after the BN-Pakatan Nasional (PN) alliance won a majority of seats in the Negeri Sembilan state election.

He suggested that the future of the unity government depends on how long BN will support it, and that the timing of the next general election is heavily dependent on the coalition. Khairy believes the government could survive if all BN MPs withdraw their support, but noted that the number of MPs supporting the government would decrease as rebel MPs from other parties join BN.

He also mentioned speculation about PKR MPs joining Bersama, as well as independent MP Verdon Bahanda possibly joining BN. DAP's decision on whether to remain in the government is also uncertain, with Khairy stating that 4,000 delegates will vote on Sunday, and the party might stay in the government to demonstrate progress during the remaining year.

He criticized some DAP leaders for prioritizing ministerial positions over their commitment to the party.
