‘Being popular alone is not enough’: Youth chief tells PKR leaders to rebuild grassroots strength

Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, the chief of Angkatan Muda Keadilan (Youth Chief), has urged the leaders of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to rebuild the grassroots strength of the party to increase people's confidence. He emphasized that simply being popular is not enough for success, citing the state elections in Sabah, Johor, and Negeri Sembilan as evidence that the party's grassroots strength needs improvement.

Kamil explained that since 1998, PKR has entered elections with popular support, but the party's machinery has not been strong enough to translate this support into victories. He called for a renewed approach, strategy, and political activities to make the party's journey more organized and targeted. Kamil also urged members and leadership not to lose heart, acknowledging that the people have sent a clear message demanding the party to rise again.

Fadhlina Sidek, the Wanita PKR chief, echoed Kamil's sentiments in her speech, stating that the congress should be a platform for self-reflection, acknowledging weaknesses, and listening to the grassroots. She emphasized that the speeches by leaders should be embraced and refined into an action agenda to strengthen the party. Fadhlina urged the delegates to take the opportunity to digest all the speeches by the leaders and use them as recommendations from the grassroots to further strengthen the party.
