‘Being popular alone is not enough’: Youth chief tells PKR leaders to rebuild grassroots strength

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) must provide a more compelling narrative to boost people's confidence in the party, claimed AMK chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim. He emphasized that strengthening grassroots strength is crucial and must be transformed into electoral victories. Speaking at the 2026 AMK National Congress in Melaka, Kamil highlighted that despite riding waves of support since 1998, the party's grassroots strength remains insufficient to secure electoral wins.

The congress, attended by PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar, vice-president Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and Wanita PKR chief Fadhlina Sidek, aimed to renew the party's approach, strategy, and political activities for a more organized, structured, and targeted journey. Kamil urged members and leadership not to lose hope, accepting the people's clear signal to rise again.

Fadhlina, in her address, proposed using the congress as a platform for self-reflection, acknowledging weaknesses, listening to grassroots concerns, and formulating an action agenda to strengthen the party. She urged leaders to embrace speeches, refine them into actionable strategies, and enhance the party's fighting spirit to secure the next election victory.
