Supreme Court dismisses plea against A.P. HC order quashing land pooling scheme case against CM Naidu, Minister

The Supreme Court of India dismissed a plea on August 14, 2026, against an Andhra Pradesh High Court order that quashed a case against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister P. Narayana. The case questioned irregularities in the land pooling scheme in Amaravati, the capital city. Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, declined to interfere with the High Court's ruling.

They emphasized that the decision would not affect other cases and should be decided on their own merits. The petition, filed by Alla Rama Krishna Reddy, alleged large-scale irregularities involving approximately 30,000 acres of land owned by over 25,000 farmers. The Supreme Court noted that the criminal proceedings were initiated by a political rival, and no farmer had come forward to file a complaint.

The case stemmed from a complaint lodged on March 12, 2021, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The land pooling scheme required farmers to surrender agricultural land in exchange for residential and commercial plots for the development of Amaravati.
