Osun Election: Material inducement won’t decide outcome — APC chieftain Oyintiloye

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has stated that material inducements will not determine the outcome of the state’s upcoming governorship election on Saturday. Speaking to journalists in Osogbo, Oyintiloye emphasized that competence and credibility would be more influential factors as voters select their preferred governor.

He acknowledged that while candidates may offer money, bread, rice or other items to voters, acceptance of such gifts does not guarantee a specific vote. According to Oyintiloye, the Osun electorate is known for being intellectually sophisticated, politically conscious and highly educated. They are increasingly focused on issues that will impact their future, such as quality healthcare, education, road networks and employment opportunities.

The APC chieftain also listed economic empowerment and inclusive governance as key concerns for voters when choosing a candidate. Oyintiloye made it clear that voters can accept offered materials while still exercising their constitutional right to vote for their preferred candidates. He stressed that the ballot remains a personal decision, and voters should base their choice on their assessment of the candidates' competence, credibility, capacity and track record.

Oyintiloye urged Osun voters to consider the long-term benefits of their decision and support candidates who can provide sustainable and meaningful dividends of democracy. He reassured that although material inducements may be part of the political landscape, they would not alone decide the winner of the Osun governorship election on Saturday.
