Maria.B Honors Pakistan’s Unsung Heroes This Independence Day

Independence Day in Pakistan is about more than just liberty; it's about nurturing a community where individuals support and motivate one another. As part of the "Aam Log, Khaas Kahaniyan Season 2," Maria.B reached out to Pakistanis to share tales of the nation's unsung champions. From the stories collected, four remarkable narratives were chosen, and the Maria.B Cares Foundation pledged its support to these endeavors.

Rawa Khan from Khati Pahadi, Karachi, exemplifies this spirit. Many families who relocated from Balochistan struggle between providing sustenance for their children and affording their education. Rawa addressed this by supplying meals equivalent to what a child could earn through labor, thus enabling them to attend school. Her school currently teaches up to Grade 3, with expansion plans underway. The Maria.B Cares Foundation is now backing the expansion of this initiative.

In Peshawar, Arab Shah offers a different kind of freedom through education. His sisters were unable to finish school due to the distance from their home. Since 2014, Arab has been running a free pick and drop service for girls using just a single rickshaw and a van, ensuring their safe journey to and from school and college. The Maria.B Cares Foundation has added a new vehicle to his fleet, enabling him to assist an even greater number of girls.

The Sohail Sisters, four gold medal-winning weightlifters who have represented Pakistan in international competitions, are also part of this inspiring group. Despite limited resources within the federation, they often take on additional jobs to fund their own travel for competitions. The Maria.B Cares Foundation is now sponsoring these sisters, allowing them to concentrate solely on their championship journey.

Lastly, engineers Ehsam and Natasha from Gilgit founded Makeistan, a space where students can present any idea and receive the necessary tools and support to bring it to life, from constructing robots to developing new technology. They aim to broaden creative and technical education to students from Grades 3 and 4. The Maria.B Cares Foundation has joined as a co-sponsor to fund a dedicated laboratory at a community-run school in Gulmit, providing more young minds the opportunity to experiment and create.

Through this initiative, Maria.B Cares Foundation celebrates these unsung heroes and stands by them as they carry on their vital work. For, the essence of independence isn't merely in the liberty celebrated, but in how we choose to utilize it for the benefit of others.
