I’m not expecting overnight change – AGI boss cautions on 24-Hour Economy

Seth Twum Akwaboah, President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), has cautioned against expecting immediate changes under the government's 24-Hour Economy policy. He emphasized that the policy should be assessed based on the specific programs and interventions implemented by the government, rather than just its name or slogan.

Speaking on Joy News' PM Express Business Edition, Mr. Akwaboah stated that the success of any government policy largely depends on the processes behind its development and the activities selected to achieve its objectives. He acknowledged that there was initial uncertainty about the meaning of the 24-hour economy, but that discussions with government have helped to clarify the initiative.

Mr. Akwaboah urged the public not to expect overnight results, comparing the policy to the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative which also required time to see tangible outcomes. He believes the initiative's success will rely heavily on its implementation, and that the business community remains supportive and is actively engaging with government on its implementation.
