If implemented to the letter, 24-Hour Economy will be a game changer – AGI

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has welcomed Ghana's 24-Hour Economy policy, expressing optimism that its successful implementation could significantly transform the nation's industrial sector. AGI President Seth Twum Akwaboah emphasized the importance of the policy's substance rather than the slogans attached to it. He stressed that the effectiveness of the policy will largely depend on its design and implementation, particularly the level of consultation with industry players.

Akwaboah explained that the initial ambiguity surrounding the 24-Hour Economy concept was resolved through discussions with government officials, providing a clearer understanding of its intended direction. He cautioned against expecting immediate transformation across the economy, drawing a parallel with the previously announced One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative.

Just as not every district has an industry since 1D1F's inception, the 24-Hour Economy should be viewed as an ongoing process rather than an overnight phenomenon.

The AGI president reiterated that the blueprint for the policy contains several ideas that, if properly executed, could benefit the economy. He expressed confidence that, if the policy is implemented to the letter, it will have a major impact on Ghana's economic landscape. AGI has pledged its support for the initiative and is actively collaborating with government and the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat to ensure its successful execution.
