Farage dominates Clacton by-election, Binface surges and 32 others trail

Nigel Farage, the right-wing political leader and leader of Reform UK, has secured a second term in the Clacton by-election, though not with the victory margin he had anticipated. The Independent candidate Count Binface, a comedian, emerged as the strongest challenger, garnering 9,455 votes or 26.7 percent of the total. The by-election was triggered by Farage's resignation from parliament, following an investigation into whether he should have declared gifts from wealthy backers.

As major political parties decided to abstain from the contest, deeming it a self-serving endeavor, Farage had hoped to use the vote to demonstrate strength against what he called an establishment campaign against him. The result, however, produced a startling two-way race, featuring a record 34 candidates on the ballot. The remaining 28 candidates collectively received fewer than 300 votes each, with the next four candidates receiving a meager 1,642 votes in total.

Among them, Daniel Pocock, the Australian-born candidate, received a mere 16 votes, while the three Monster Raving Loony Party candidates managed a combined total of just 61 votes. The independents Woke Trump Carzee and Glenn Cummings were at the very bottom, with eight and seven votes, respectively. Despite the crowded ballot, the outcome was decidedly not close.
