2027: Peter Obi can’t be Nigeria’s president, he’s a regional champion — Dino Melaye

Former lawmaker Dino Melaye has expressed his belief that Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate Peter Obi cannot become the nation's president based on Obi's regional status. Speaking on the KAA Truths podcast, Melaye cast Obi as a regional champion and dismissed the possibility of a regional champion ascending to the presidency.

Melaye also highlighted Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, as a nationalist. Despite acknowledging Obi's character and their friendship, Melaye maintained his stance, asserting that a regional champion could never become president in Nigeria. He cited the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo as an example, describing him as an exceptional leader but noting that Awolowo's regional identity limited his presidential chances to only the Southwest.
