What has changed in FPL for 2026-27 season?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) returns for the 2026-27 season with a host of new features and changes. One of the first things FPL managers do when creating their squad is receiving assistance in assembling a starting team. By answering a few questions, such as favorite team and playing style, FPL will generate a starting lineup for the manager. This feature can be altered until the deadline for gameweek one closes.

Mini-leagues, a popular aspect of FPL, have also seen live updates during matches. Bonus points, which include options like bonus points, will now be displayed in real-time, starting from the 20-minute mark in each match. The price-change predictor is a new addition, providing predictions on how likely a player's value will rise or fall the following day. This grading system ranges from "very likely to rise" to "very likely to drop."

A major overhaul of the bonus-point system has occurred, with players no longer being penalized for being tackled. Full-backs and defenders have seen their bonus points opportunities reduced, as defenders now need to accumulate three clearances, blocks, and interceptions (CBIs) instead of the previous two to earn a bonus point. The number of BPS points for saving a penalty has also decreased from eight to seven, but an additional point is awarded for "big chances" saved, maintaining the overall point value.

The lockdown period for finalizing bonus points has changed from one hour after full-time to 09:00 UK time the morning after the match, allowing Opta to complete its post-match data review for accurate calculation. The two major changes from the previous season remain in place: players can use chips twice - once in the first half of the season and once from gameweek 20 onwards; and there are still defensive contribution points (defcon), with outfield players earning points based on their defensive actions in a match.
