Scrap Black Star Experience Secretariat – Kwame Dadzie

Kwame Dadzie, a journalist from Rex Omar Entertainment, has urged the government to disband the Black Star Experience Secretariat and assign its leader, Rex Omar, to a different department. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Dadzie questioned the necessity of the secretariat a year after it was established, stating that it has not fulfilled its initial objectives.

Dadzie expressed uncertainty about whether the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had a clear vision for the Black Star Experience or if the plans were altered during its implementation. He described the initiative, initially intended to revolutionize Ghana's tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors, as having transformed into a mere label for activities that were already taking place.

Dadzie emphasized that if the Black Star Experience is only a facade, disguising itself within the 13 agencies of the ministry after a year, there is no reason to preserve the separate secretariat. He concluded by urging the government to "Scrap it, and find another job for Rex Omar!" The Black Star Experience was introduced by the government as a unified brand to market and promote Ghana's tourism, culture, and creative arts offerings both domestically and internationally, with renowned musician and politician Rex Omar appointed as the secretariat's head.
