Bumper entry at the 5th Sunshine Development Tour leg in Ruiru

The Absa Ruiru Invitational, the fifth leg of the Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing, is set to take place at Ruiru Sports Club from August 16th to 18th. A Pro-Am event will precede the main tournament on August 15th, allowing professional golfers and amateurs to familiarize themselves with the course. A total of 63 golfers, comprising professionals, amateurs, and juniors from across East Africa, have registered for the competition, vying for valuable Order of Merit and World rankings points.

Notable participants include Kakamega Sports Club's Dismas Indiza and Royal Nairobi's John Lejirma, who made headlines after a dramatic comeback last year. Other Kenyan professionals joining the field include Samuel Njoroge Chege, Greg Snow, Daniel Nduva, Michael Karanga, David Wakhu, Edwin Mudanyi, and Mohit Mediratta. International competitors from Rwanda, Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Malawi, and Burundi will also participate.

Tournament Director David Kihara expressed confidence in the strong field and Ruiru's history of competitive golf, anticipating an exciting contest. The event is part of the Sunshine Development Tour's aim to provide golfers with opportunities to progress to higher levels and secure positions on the Sunshine Tour.
