We are not mining in Draw River Forest Reserve – Betterland Ghana Limited

Betterland Ghana Limited has firmly denied allegations of illegal mining in the Draw River Forest Reserve, vehemently rejecting a report by GTV that claimed otherwise. The company asserted that the footage featured in the broadcast was taken from another forest, Atiwa, and was falsely portrayed as occurring in the Draw River Forest Reserve.

Betterland expressed strong disapproval of this unethical practice, labeling it a violation of journalistic integrity and a malicious attempt to tarnish its reputation. The firm emphasized that its operations are strictly regulated and conducted under a valid Mining License, in stark contrast to illegal mining activities, known as galamsey.

Betterland Ghana Limited stressed that its activities are lawful exploration works, distinct from the criminal act of illegal mining. The company highlighted that its operations are monitored by Forestry Commission officials, ensuring compliance with environmental and forestry laws. Betterland refuted claims of operation near river bodies or cocoa farms, emphasizing that its access route predates Betterland's involvement and is situated well within regulatory boundaries.

The company demanded a public apology from GTV and Umaru Sanda Salifu for the misinformation broadcast, reaffirming its commitment to lawful and responsible mining practices.
