Ms. Lauryn Hill and Fugees’ bandmate Wyclef Jean will headline Global Citizen’s antipoverty festival

Singer Lauryn Hill and her Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean have been announced as headline performers for Global Citizen Festival this fall. The U.S. duo, known for their socially conscious lyrics, are set to headline the event on September 26 at New York's Central Park. This is the first festival since Global Citizen produced the World Cup's halftime show, which raised over $60 million for its education fund.

The festival, which gathers attendees to pressure world leaders for antipoverty initiatives, also features acts like Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey, and K-pop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Hill and Jean recently performed to mark the 30th anniversary of their landmark album "The Score", and have also been active in Rio de Janeiro's Global Citizen climate programming.

The festival aims to secure outstanding commitments, including $100 million for education, food security, and clean energy in the Indo-Pacific region. Specifically, Evans has called on France to support several education funds.
