LLA-PRO conclave as Mauricio Macri, Karina Milei ‘resume contact’

Mauricio Macri and Karina Milei, siblings of President Javier Milei, have recently re-established contact between their respective political parties, PRO and La Libertad Avanza. This process began with a meeting at the Casa Rosada, attended by representatives of both parties. The main objective of this reconnection is to "rebuild trust" and restore political and legislative coordination.

Macri, who met with Karina Milei, informed the PRO's executive committee about his renewed contact with her. The initial talks were described as "an initial teams' meeting" and are not expected to discuss potential candidates or agreements for next year's general election. The focus is on strengthening coordination between the two parties and organizing efforts in Congress, where the center-right PRO has supported many initiatives of President Milei since his inauguration in December 2023.

The relationship has had its ups and downs, often due to Macri's public criticism of the Milei government and other disputes between the two right-wing forces. However, the recent dialogue marks a significant step towards improved cooperation and support for the government's legislative agenda. This renewed contact comes as other Peronist opposition parties also seek to improve coordination ahead of the 2027 elections.
