ZAKA welcomes renewed Israel-Venezuela ties after earthquake aid mission

ZAKA, an Israeli humanitarian aid organization, expressed satisfaction with the recent renewal of diplomatic ties between Israel and Venezuela. This development follows a week after ZAKA and the Home Front Command provided vital assistance to the Venezuelan population after two devastating earthquakes struck the country. On June 24, twin 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes devastated South America, causing over 6,000 deaths and more than 16,000 injuries, according to multiple reports.

ZAKA highlighted the significance of their humanitarian operations during the period of strained relations between the two nations, stating that they played a crucial role in bridging the gap through their humanitarian efforts. ZAKA CEO Zvi Hassid expressed pride in the organization's involvement during the humanitarian crisis, emphasizing the importance of a unified humanitarian spirit.

Baruch Nidam, director of ZAKA's International Division, praised the cooperation between ZAKA personnel and local teams, stating that the language of saving lives serves as an international language. He also expressed pride in the volunteers who participated in the mission, acknowledging their contribution to Israel's spirit of mutual responsibility and human dignity.

Nidam further explained that the mission demonstrated the broader purpose of the International Division at ZAKA, which is to provide humanitarian assistance irrespective of diplomatic relations between countries. He stated that the organization remains committed to being there when needed, regardless of the state of diplomatic relations, and building bridges through human connections.
