University of Nairobi Warns Freshers Against Fake Hostel Website Scam

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has issued a warning to first-year students and their parents about a fraudulent website allegedly used to scam them over university accommodation. The warning was issued on August 12, 2026, following reports that the site was targeting newly admitted students seeking information about university hostels.

UoN emphasized that the website is not affiliated with the university and urged students and parents to be cautious, avoiding the sharing of personal or financial information through unofficial platforms that claim to represent the university. All student registration processes should be conducted through the university's official Student Management Information System at smis.uonbi.ac.ke.

The warning precedes the physical reporting of first-year students for the 2026/2027 academic year, scheduled for Monday, August 24, 2026, for arrival, registration, and orientation. UoN advised students and their parents to use only official UoN communication channels for information on accommodation, registration, fees, and other admission-related processes.
