Transfer: Caicedo’s move to Barcelona confirmed

Ferran Torres, the World Cup hero for Spain, has been granted permission to miss Barcelona training in order to finalize a transfer to Paris St-Germain. The 26-year-old scored the decisive goal in extra time against Argentina during the recent World Cup, contributing to Spain's second title in a summer. Scheduled to return to Barcelona's training sessions on Wednesday, Torres will now refrain from doing so as the prospect of joining PSG grows nearer.

The prospective deal with PSG is expected to be valued at over £40 million and will be finalized before the Super Cup final match between PSG and Aston Villa in Salzburg. The striker has only one year remaining on his contract with Barcelona, leading to frustration among some supporters who feel he should remain with the Spanish giants.

Torres addressed his future during a media tour of the United States following Spain's World Cup triumph. He expressed that while he is under contract with Barcelona, he remains open to new opportunities in football. When questioned about potential links with PSG, he reiterated his readiness to adapt to any changes in the sport.

PSG has been strong in recent seasons, winning the Champions League twice under manager Luis Enrique, who previously coached at Barcelona.
