Torres misses Barcelona training to finalise PSG move

Ferran Torres, the World Cup hero for Spain, has been granted permission to skip Barcelona's training sessions in order to finalize his transfer to Paris St-Germain. The 26-year-old striker netted the decisive goal in extra time against Argentina, contributing to Spain's second World Cup victory this summer. Initially scheduled to return to training with Barcelona on Wednesday, Torres will not be attending as his move to PSG progresses.

The agreement with PSG, who will compete in the Super Cup final against Aston Villa in Salzburg, is anticipated to be worth over £40 million. Torres' current contract with Barcelona expires in one year, and some fans have expressed discontent over his candid remarks about the possibility of leaving the club. During a media tour of the United States following Spain's World Cup triumph, Torres expressed his understanding that "in football, you never know."

He added, "When top teams show interest, it's a positive sign, as everything in this sport can change in an instant." PSG has enjoyed recent success, clinching the Champions League in the past two seasons and is coached by former Barcelona player and manager Luis Enrique. The club may face a potential loss of Bradley Barcola this summer, with Barcola coveted by Liverpool.

Torres has been a member of Barcelona since 2022, after a two-year stint at Manchester City. He has netted 25 goals in 65 appearances for the Spanish national team.
