Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's most followed athlete on social media, and his long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez tied the knot in a private ceremony in Cascais, Portugal on Tuesday. The union came after a decade-long relationship that drew intense media speculation in Portugal. The football superstar, 41, posted a photo of the couple's hands with their wedding bands on Instagram, captioning it: "C [heart] G." The couple's five children were present at the "private and intimate" ceremony.

Rodriguez, a 32-year-old influencer, announced their engagement a year prior on Instagram. Ronaldo, who represented Portugal at this summer's World Cup, currently plays for Saudi club Al-Nassr. The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus forward has won the Ballon d'Or five times. Rodriguez gained prominence through her Netflix show "I am Georgina," which details the family's life in football, fashion, and travel.

Portuguese media had previously speculated that the wedding could take place in Sintra, Madeira, or Funchal, but ultimately opted for Cascais, a seaside resort located 30km west of Lisbon. The couple, who met in 2016 in Madrid when Rodriguez was working at a Gucci store, have amassed over 750 million followers across social media platforms and have built one of the world's most recognizable celebrity partnerships.
