Last month, during the NATO summit in Ankara, Iran reportedly identified US President Donald Trump's residence down to the exact floor, raising the possibility of an assassination attempt. US authorities intercepted this precise intelligence and staged an elaborate gambit to get Trump out of Turkey. According to The New York Times, unnamed US officials stated that intelligence agencies obtained the information through multiple channels and confirmed a specific threat of a missile attack on Trump's aircraft.

NATO's summit venue nearby also housed a portable missile, capturing the attention of security forces. Iran had been openly declaring its intention to assassinate Trump since 2020, in retaliation for the killing of general Qassim Soleimani by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
