Soldiers of Ukraine's 121st Brigade say they had no rotation for nearly four months

Ukraine's 121st Territorial Defense Brigade has reported that its soldiers have been stationed at combat positions for nearly four months without proper rotation, facing shortages of essential supplies such as food, water, and medicine. The fire support platoon from the 3rd Battalion of military unit A7049 expressed their concerns on a Facebook appeal on August 9.

Platoon commander Lt. Anatolii Syshchuk revealed that the unit arrived in April to replace troops who had already spent eight months without rotation, and they were initially told their deployment would last only one month. However, the soldiers have encountered difficulties with supply deliveries, which sometimes fail to arrive for three to seven days, and in one case, went without essentials for a staggering 12 days.

Syshchuk pleaded with the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief, Mykhailo Drapatyi, to ensure the safe withdrawal of his unit. The 121st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade responded to the appeal on August 10, affirming their commitment to delivering food, medicine, and other necessary supplies according to a set schedule.

They noted that over the course of a month, 27 packages weighing approximately 9 kilograms each were delivered to the unit. However, they acknowledged that adverse weather conditions, constant enemy activity, and Russian electronic warfare systems sometimes hinder timely and intact deliveries. The brigade's commander personally communicated with the troops and was aware of their challenging circumstances.

They emphasized that the situation in the sector remained extremely difficult due to these factors. On August 12, Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces acknowledged that the unit was conducting combat missions on a challenging and dynamic front. They reported that about 240 kilograms of food supplies had been delivered to the 121st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade's positions over the past 30 days.

The Southern Defense Forces stated that various measures were being taken to rotate the unit as soon as possible, provided it could be done without endangering the personnel's lives and health. They reiterated that protecting the well-being of service members was their top priority, and the rotation would occur as soon as the security situation allowed, to prevent exposing personnel to significant risks during the regrouping.
