Three veterans receive prosthetics funded by Ukraine's Eurovision National Selection

During the Eurovision 2026 national selection, Ukraine's public broadcaster Suspilne and Superhumans managed to raise UAH 1.75 million. The purpose of this fundraising was to provide prosthetics for veterans, as reported by Suspilne Culture on August 12. All the funds collected were utilized to create and fit customized prostheses for veterans, along with offering them comprehensive rehabilitation.

Three veterans were recipients of this joint fundraiser. Yaroslav Melnychuk received both a leg and an arm prosthesis, costing a total of 450,000 hryvnias. Melnychuk, who had volunteered to join the military, was then seriously injured and underwent rehabilitation. He quickly learned to use his prostheses and returned to leading an active life.

Ihor Vereshchaka received a leg prosthesis at a cost of 700,000 hryvnias. Similarly, Volodymyr Mazur also received a leg prosthesis at a lower cost of 260,000 hryvnias. The remaining 342,100 hryvnias was allocated for comprehensive rehabilitation for the patients, which included physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychological support, medical consultations, physical and rehabilitation medicine treatments, social reintegration, and adaptive sports programs.

In total, these veterans received 189 rehabilitation sessions. Olha Rudnieva, CEO of Superhumans, expressed her gratitude for the funds raised during the national selection, stating that it enabled them to help several of their defenders regain the ability to walk and live their lives again. Each of them had their unique journey through the process of prosthetics and rehabilitation.
