Rod Stewart cancels tour dates after heart surgery

British rock icon Rod Stewart, 81, has pulled the plug on his upcoming US tour dates following a successful heart operation, according to a post on his Instagram account. The singer, renowned for hits like "Da Ya Think I m Sexy?", underwent a routine coronary stent procedure to widen blocked or narrowed coronary arteries. His management advised him to rest for the next four weeks to fully recover before resuming his stage appearances.

This decision means Stewart will be unable to continue his current tour schedule. The spiky-haired musician, who enjoyed a string of mega-hits in the 1970s and 1980s, has maintained an active touring routine despite his age. In 2025, he reflected, "I love what I do, and I do what I love. I'm fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds."

Stewart has previously canceled several US shows due to health issues, most recently a show in Cincinnati attributed to a minor medical procedure. In June, he unexpectedly canceled a California concert due to laryngitis, only to perform at a World Cup match the following day, drawing criticism. Later that month, he was seen receiving oxygen during a Utah show and informed the audience that he had nearly fainted.
