Rod Stewart cancels US tour for heart surgery recovery

British rock icon Rod Stewart, 81, has pulled out of his upcoming US tour following heart surgery, according to a statement on his social media. The celebrated musician, renowned for hits like "Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?", recently underwent a routine coronary stent procedure to widen blocked coronary arteries. Following his doctor's advice, Stewart plans to take the next four weeks to recover and regain his full fitness before resuming his stage performances.

His management announced that this means he cannot continue his current tour schedule, which included performances in Las Vegas. The spiky-haired singer, who has maintained a rigorous touring schedule throughout his career, stated in 2025 that he loves his work and is in good health, claiming he can run 100 metres in 18 seconds.

Stewart has previously cancelled US shows due to medical issues, most recently in Cincinnati and California. In June, he also had to bow out of a California concert due to laryngitis, although he later attended a World Cup match the following day, sparking criticism. In another instance, he was seen receiving oxygen during a Utah show and admitted to nearly fainting on stage.
