Pogba expected to have Monaco contract terminated

Paul Pogba is anticipated to have his contract with Monaco terminated, as contract termination talks are ongoing. The French footballer joined Monaco last summer following a permitted return to professional soccer after a doping suspension. Pogba originally signed a two-year contract, which was set to expire at the end of the current season.

However, according to a source, discussions for an early exit are underway and are expected to conclude soon. Monaco has not yet addressed the matter. Pogba's inaugural season with Monaco was hampered by injuries, yet there was optimism that his second season would see him play more regularly. However, the arrival of a new manager, following Filipe Luis' replacement of Sebastien Pocognoli, might steer Monaco in a different direction in midfield.

Pogba was initially banned from football for four years in February 2024 due to a positive test for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) following a doping test in August 2023. Despite Pogba's assertion that it was an error and that he was given a supplement unknowingly containing a prohibited substance, he was allowed to return to football in March 2025 following the Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision to shorten his ban to 18 months.
