Pogba expected to have Monaco contract terminated

Paul Pogba is reportedly set to see his contract with Monaco terminated, according to ongoing discussions. The former World Cup champion signed a two-year deal with the French club last summer, but it was intended to conclude at the end of the current season. Sources indicate talks for an early exit are progressing and are anticipated to be finalized soon. Monaco has not yet released any statement regarding the matter.

Pogba's inaugural season with Monaco was hindered by numerous injuries, but there was optimism that the 2024 campaign would see him perform regularly. However, a managerial change, following Filipe Luis taking over from Sebastien Pocognoli, might prompt Monaco to reassess their approach in midfield. Pogba was initially suspended from football for a period of four years following a positive test for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in February 2024, stemming from a doping test conducted in August 2023.

Despite maintaining that it was an unintentional mistake, involving a supplement unknowingly containing a prohibited substance, Pogba was granted permission to resume professional football in March 2025, thanks to a reduced ban of 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
