Keep tabs on your valuables with Google Pixel Tag

Google unveils the Pixel Tag, a compact device designed to help you keep track of your keys, wallet, and luggage. This robust, water-resistant tag utilizes the Find Hub network for precise location tracking and boasts a one-year battery life. The Pixel Tag can be bought individually for $29 or in a pack of four for $99 at the Google Store.

Once attached to your belongings, you can use your smartphone to ring the tag or view its exact location on a map. If you inadvertently leave something behind, the extensive Android network aids in tracking it down securely. The device also integrates seamlessly with your watch or AI assistant for effortless item retrieval.

Crafted from durable stainless steel, the Pixel Tag is both water and dust-resistant (IP67 rating), making it resilient against wear and tear. It features a speaker for playing sounds and a button that can be pressed to ring and locate your phone. The battery life is impressively long-lasting, providing up to a year of use. Replacing the battery is a straightforward process.

To pair your tag, simply remove the battery tab and bring the tag close to your Android device running Android 9 or later. Pairing is quick and easy through Fast Pair. You can customize your tags by assigning them to specific item categories or creating custom labels directly within the Find Hub app. Sharing tags with up to 10 individuals allows for easy tracking of shared items.

The Find Hub app enables you to locate your items on a map. If you misplace an item, you can ring it if you're within Bluetooth range. Precision finding is achieved through Ultra-Wideband technology, which provides visual distance and directional cues to guide you to your lost items. Additionally, Left Behind alerts can be enabled to prevent accidentally leaving items behind.

Should your Pixel Tag fall out of range, the Find Hub network leverages over one billion Android devices to help you securely locate your missing belongings. This network ensures data security through end-to-end encryption. You'll receive automatic alerts on your phone when an unknown tag is detected and guidance on how to retrieve it.

Beyond smartphone compatibility, the Pixel Tag can be controlled using your Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds, or by asking Gemini to ring the tag. The device becomes available for purchase on November 11, with a single tag priced at $29 or a four-pack for $99. Check the Google Store for further details on availability and any product updates.

Please note that the Pixel Tag's water, dust, and tumble/drop resistance is not permanent and may diminish over time due to normal use, repairs, or damage. Dropping the device may compromise its resistance, and such damage is not covered under warranty. Liquid damage also voids the warranty. Testing was conducted using pre-production Pixel Tag units and software paired with a Pixel 10 Pro XL running testing software, with battery life based on average usage of playing sound and precision finding, though actual battery life may vary depending on usage patterns and other factors.
