Chung Cheong-rae: "If I become the party leader, the president's approval rating will recover to 60%"

Kyeong-rae Jae, the candidate for the Democratic Party's presidential nominee in the upcoming 8·17 general election, has stated that if he were to win, he aims to restore support for the president to over 60% of voters. During a press conference held on the 12th, Jae emphasized that the current decline in the president's support is due to the loss of traditional core voter support.

He asserted that if elected, he will quickly revive this support. Jae also addressed questions regarding the president's commitment to the nation's constitutional spirit, clarifying his position as a response to inquiries from journalists. Jae further criticized fellow presidential candidates Sung Yong Gil and Kim Min Sik, suggesting that their commonality is both running for the Seoul mayoralty and the (Gangwon) Gangneung special district legislative election.

He declared his intention to win these elections and defeat his opponents. On the matter of the government's proposal to extend working hours within Mega Special Zones, Jae firmly opposed the idea, proposing instead to increase employment opportunities. Jae also commented on the recent incident involving the media and journalists at the Democratic Party's joint press conference, stating that the media's actions were self-inflicted.
