A high school that made headlines for demeaning the 18th May 1980 democratic uprising has seen its season end in the first round of the 2022 Bonghwangdaegi, a prestigious high school football tournament. Baejai High School, which was at the centre of a recent controversy over demeaning the 18 May 1980 democratic uprising, has had its season ended in its first match of the 2022 Bonghwangdaegi. The school made headlines in April after some of its students, acting as representatives, visited the Democratic Human Rights Museum in Gwangju and took photos in front of an exhibition display, making a V-sign and smiling. The photos were posted on an online community, sparking widespread outrage. Baejai High School's football team was knocked out of the tournament after losing 2-1 to Gangneung High School in the first round.
