Trump flew secretly from Turkey due to Iranian threat, the Washington Post reports

US President Donald Trump secretly flew from Turkey to Britain on a smaller plane due to an Iranian threat, according to the Washington Post. The president had initially traveled to Ankara for the Nato summit aboard a newly renovated Qatari-donated jet. However, he unexpectedly used an older Air Force One jet for his departure, sparking questions about the security measures on the newer aircraft.

The trip coincided with escalating tensions between the US and Iran, a neighboring nation. Following his arrival at Ankara's airport, Trump was covertly transferred from the older plane to an Air Force C-32A via an airport catering truck. The C-32A then flew to Britain, arriving shortly after the older Air Force One and the media.

Trump commented on social media that he preferred using the older plane "for old time's sake" while the new jet stopped at the same base to allow US service members to inspect it. The White House maintained that the Qatari-donated jet had been equipped with top-notch security protocols to safeguard the president and his staff, citing communications director Steve Cheung's statement. The Pentagon also declined to provide additional comment on the matter.
