RoS to scrutinise Bersatu complaint over Perikatan membership status

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 11 — The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) has acknowledged receiving a formal complaint from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) regarding allegations that the party was absent from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council meeting held on July 16, as well as concerns about its membership within the coalition.

In a statement issued today, RoS disclosed that it is currently investigating the complaint filed today, in accordance with the Societies Act 1966 [Act 832], the Societies Regulations 1984, the party's approved constitution, and the department's archival records. RoS emphasized that a thorough examination will be conducted, utilizing all information, documents, and explanations provided by the involved parties.

The review will adhere to the current legal provisions, as RoS is committed to ensuring a comprehensive and law-based assessment. In fulfilling its duty, RoS affirmed that it will maintain professionalism and impartiality, with no vested interest in any organization or political party. The regulatory authority also stressed that all registered organizations must adhere to the Societies Act 1966, relevant regulations, and their respective constitutions.

Earlier reports indicated that Bersatu intended to submit a report to RoS concerning the assertion that its membership in PN would be automatically terminated following the party's decision to establish an alternative political coalition.
