RoS to scrutinise Bersatu complaint over Perikatan membership status

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 11 — The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) has received an official complaint from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) regarding allegations that the party was not present at the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council meeting held on July 16, as well as concerns about its membership within the coalition.

RoS stated in a recent statement that it is currently investigating the complaint, adhering to the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832), the Societies Regulations 1984, the organisation's approved constitution, and its official records. "To ensure a thorough examination based on the law, all information, documents, and explanations provided by the involved parties will be assessed," the RoS said in the statement.

The issues raised will be evaluated based on the current provisions of the law, according to the RoS. In fulfilling its responsibility, RoS affirmed it would continue to act with professionalism and impartiality, with no inclination towards any organization or political party. RoS also emphasized that all registered organizations must abide by the Societies Act 1966, relevant regulations, and their respective constitutions.

Earlier reports suggested that Bersatu had planned to submit a report to RoS concerning claims made by others that its membership in PN would automatically end following the party's intention to form a new political coalition.
