Hana Financial, veterans ministry join hands to improve national cemetery

Hana Financial Group and the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs have entered into an agreement to enhance the facilities at South Korea's national cemeteries. This memorandum of understanding was signed on Tuesday at the National Cemetery in Seoul's Dongjak District, where Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo and Veterans Minister Kwon Oh-eul attended the ceremony.

The primary objectives of the agreement are to preserve the memory of veterans' sacrifices and dedication, and to promote a culture of honoring those who served the nation. Both parties discussed various ways to strengthen cooperation in these areas. The agreement comes ahead of the Aug. 15 Liberation Day holiday, which aims to pay tribute to veterans who dedicated their lives to the country.

Through this partnership, Hana Financial will undertake maintenance work on approximately 2,000 grave markers across two national cemeteries. These efforts will focus on refurbishing aging markers at Daejeon National Cemetery, including those in the section dedicated to independence activists, and at Seoul National Cemetery, encompassing sections for military personnel. The initiative aims to improve the overall environment for visiting families, providing a more respectful and commemorative experience.
