Calon bebas PRN N Sembilan mengaku tak salah buat hantaran jelik

Politician Islah Wahyudi Zainudin, a free-standing candidate for the Sri Tanjung constituency in the 16th State Election of Negeri Sembilan, has admitted in a court of law to not being guilty of charges related to using social media for disseminating information deemed critical of the royal institution. The 46-year-old, who was also a free-standing candidate for the same constituency in the 1st September 2020 PRN Negeri Sembilan election, made the confession after the charges were read in front of Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman.

The charges state that he knowingly and deliberately used the Instagram application via the account 'randuk malaysia' to create and disseminate the communication misinformation around 3.20 pm on January 14th last year. This information was later seen again around 3.20 pm on January 24th at the Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) building in Cyberjaya.

The charges were filed under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which can result in a fine not exceeding RM500,000 or imprisonment for up to two years, or both, along with an additional fine of RM5,000 for each day's continued offense after the initial warning. The Deputy Prosecutor for SKMM, Fadhli Ab Wahab, proposed a RM10,000 bond with a co-signatory, while attorney Aidil Khalid requested a lower bond of RM3,000 for the defendant.

The court allowed a RM6,000 bond with a co-signatory and set the case for a continuance on September 22nd.
