Calon bebas PRN N Sembilan mengaku tak salah buat hantaran jelik

In a recent court appearance in Sepang, Islah Wahyudi Zainudin, a 46-year-old activist and independent candidate for the Sri Tanjung constituency in the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (PRN Negeri Sembilan) elections, pleaded not guilty to charges of using social media to initiate a communication hoax related to a royal institution.

The charges stemmed from a post made via the Instagram account "randuk malaysia" on January 14, 2023, around 3:20 PM, which was later viewed at the Communications and Multimedia Authority (SKMM) in Cyberjaya on January 24, 2023, at approximately 3:20 PM.

Zainudin, who was previously an independent candidate for the same constituency in the 16th PRN elections, appeared in the Magistrate's Court today. The prosecution alleged that the post was a deliberate act to disseminate false information, which could lead to a fine of up to RM500,000 or a maximum of two years in prison, or both, under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The maximum fine for each subsequent violation after the initial offense is RM5,000.

The Deputy Prosecutor General for SKMM, Fadhli Ab Wahab, proposed Zainudin's bail at RM10,000 with one surety, while his lawyer, Aidil Khalid, requested a lower surety of RM3,000. The court allowed a surety of RM6,000 with one surety and set the case for a resumption on September 22.
