Behind Bars: Faith Takes Shape In 1.25 Lakh Shivlings At Central Jail In Indore

Behind bars at the Central Jail in Indore, a spiritual programme was held to create 1.25 lakh Parthiv Shivlings during the holy Shravan month. This marked the fifth year of installing Shiva lingams in the prison. The event was organized under the leadership of Varun Kapoor, the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services in Madhya Pradesh.

Kapoor was welcomed by Jail Superintendent Dinesh Nargave and other officials at the main entrance. The Mahayagya commenced at the main auditorium, where Kapoor, with his wife Soumya, made the first Parthiv Shivling as part of the initiative. Prisoners, both undertrial and convicted, including women inmates, actively took part in the programme.

Various prison wards also witnessed the construction of these Shivlings. Around 1,000 male inmates and 51 women inmates participated with devotion, performing Shiva bhajans and devotional songs. The objective was to foster spirituality, positive thinking, mental peace, and self-reflection among the inmates. Such activities were believed to encourage prisoners to embrace a positive lifestyle and reconnect with society after their release.
