Ashanti Regional Minister cautions students against indiscipline and teachers’ attacks

Dr Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has issued a warning to students about acts of vandalism and attacks on teachers at their campuses. He expressed concern over the increasing number of incidents reported in the media, which could disrupt academic work and compromise the learning environment. The caution came during the launch of Kumasi Academy's 70th anniversary logo and cloth at the school auditorium in Kumasi.

The event, themed "Shaping character, cultivating minds, and nurturing souls," marks the beginning of a year-long series of activities. These include a health walk, exhibition, fun-filled games, speech and prize-giving day, entertainment, and thanksgiving services. Global alumni associations, including those in the United States and the United Kingdom, are also contributing resources to fund infrastructure development on the campus, such as expanding dormitory blocks and upgrading dining hall facilities.

Dr Amoakohene emphasized the school's longstanding reputation for discipline and urged students not to undermine this hard-earned reputation through indiscipline. He cited a recent incident at Obuasi Secondary Technical School, where the headmaster was attacked and school property vandalized, as an example of unacceptable behavior.

The headmaster, Samuel Gato, highlighted the school's distinguished past and urged students, alumni, and stakeholders to collaborate in making the 70th anniversary celebration a success in 2027.
