Qatari Diar launches phase one of ‘Alam Al Roum’ development

Doha, Qatar - Qatari Diar has officially launched the first phase of its ambitious Alam Al Roum development on Egypt's North Coast, marking the beginning of a major mixed-use urban and tourism destination. The ambitious project is set to generate thousands of jobs, both directly and indirectly, as part of its goal to create over 250,000 positions upon completion.

Total investments in the development amount to $29.7 billion, with $3.5 billion being direct cash investments. The first phase is scheduled to commence handover in 2030. This initiative represents Qatari Diar's largest single investment in Egypt and one of the most significant integrated urban and tourism projects in the world, covering an area of 20.58 million square meters.

The development encompasses a 7.2-kilometer stretch of Mediterranean waterfront and is envisioned as a contemporary coastal city. It will incorporate residential areas, hospitality facilities, commercial spaces, cultural attractions, recreational amenities, educational institutions, and healthcare centers within a sustainable urban framework.

Qatari Diar has partnered with world-class experts to ensure that Phase One meets international best practices in urban planning, marina design, hospitality consulting, landscape architecture, and infrastructure engineering.

Prime Minister H E Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, along with the Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, H E Randa El Menshawy, visited the project site to review progress and discuss the implementation roadmap. Qatari Diar's CEO, Sheikh Hamad bin Talal Al-Thani, welcomed the delegation and presented the project's timeline, emphasizing the company's commitment to starting construction by 2030.
