IIM Ahmedabad, Cyril Shroff launch GC Leadership Academy; aims to strengthen legal leadership and management education

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and Cyril Shroff have jointly established the Cyril Shroff - IIMA GC Leadership Academy, a research and executive development program aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities for General Counsels (GCs). The academy was formally launched at the IIM Ahmedabad campus following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the institute and Shroff on Saturday.

With Shroff, the managing partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) and a legal expert with over 40 years of experience, at the helm, the academy aims to blend leadership development with management education. This initiative will equip GCs with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities, accountability, and global expectations of modern-day leadership.

The GC Leadership Academy will primarily focus on four core areas: boardroom and enterprise leadership, business, finance, and strategy integration, technology, AI, and emerging risk readiness, and global peer learning and thought leadership. By fostering strategic judgement, decision-making, and confidence in boardroom settings, the academy will also deepen GCs' understanding of finance, governance, risk, organizational behavior, and business transformation.

Furthermore, the program will explore the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and cybersecurity on legal leadership.

A key feature of the GC Leadership Academy is its emphasis on global peer learning and thought leadership. The program will connect GCs with experienced, senior colleagues from around the world, offering opportunities for peer learning, international exposure, and certification to cultivate the next generation of legal leaders.
