New Negeri Sembilan DAP chief Arul vows to rebuild trust while in opposition

Negeri Sembilan DAP chief J Arul Kumar has pledged to rebuild trust and restore the party's roots in the community as it transitions into the opposition following a poor performance in the August 1 state election. At 41, Arul succeeded Loke Siew Fook, who had led the state chapter for 22 years. Loke's resignation came after the DAP lost two seats, including Chennah, a seat he had represented for three terms.

Arul, a former teacher with a business administration degree, emphasized that the party's primary goal is to regain public confidence, particularly in Repah and Chennah. He stated that DAP served Negeri Sembilan well during its opposition tenure and earned the people's trust. Arul intends to meet with the party's 140 branches and assemblymen to discuss strengthening its presence on the ground and continuing to advocate for policies that benefit the public.

The new chairman emphasized the importance of maintaining unity, which he believes sets the DAP apart from other parties. He highlighted the party's ability to move with one voice and as a cohesive unit when serving the people. Arul also stated that DAP will maintain and scrutinize policies that benefit Negeri Sembilan while holding the government accountable where necessary. He noted that they will cooperate with the state government where their interests align, but the people's interests must remain the top priority.
