DCI starts training KRA officers on how to gather intelligence

The National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA), part of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), has begun a five-day Intelligence Profiling and Analytics Course for Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers. The course aims to enhance the officers' skills in intelligence profiling, analysis, and interpretation of information to aid informed decision-making and intelligence-led enforcement within KRA.

Opening the ceremony on Monday, August 10, 2026, NCIA Commandant Ibrahim Jillo urged the participants to utilize the training and apply the knowledge in their work, stating, "Make full use of the training and apply the knowledge gained." The five-day programme focuses on intelligence profiling and analytics, teaching participants to interpret information to support decision-making and enforcement activities.

Prisca Mutindi, representing KRA, emphasized the importance of translating the skills learned during the course into practical results upon returning to their workplaces. She encouraged active engagement throughout the training and using the knowledge to strengthen KRA's enforcement capabilities. The course is part of the NCIA's mandate to provide specialized, competency-based training to law enforcement agencies and other government institutions.

The Kenya Revenue Authority has been focusing on boosting taxpayer education and digital compliance following the enactment of the Finance Act 2026 on June 23, 2026, and addressing persistent delays on the iTax platform in June 2025. The Intelligence Profiling and Analytics Course is part of NCIA's broader mandate to deliver specialized training to law enforcement agencies and government institutions, aiming to deepen inter-agency cooperation in combating crime.
